Strengths Deployment Inventory® (SDI®)
Wouldn’t it be great if you understood what drives you, and what drives others?
What could you achieve if you had an understanding to help you through difficult choices and to empower you to communicate in a way that achieves the results you desire?
Do any of these phrases sound like you?
-
• I like getting things done quickly and efficiently. It is priority number one.
• I feel that getting the job done right takes thoughtfulness and planning — not speed.
• I am concerned about the human aspects and the feelings of the people involved when completing a task.
As different as these approaches are, all of them are valuable. Recognising what “motivational language” someone is speaking can greatly enhance your ability to communicate more effectively AND handle conflict more productively. It becomes easier to “relate” to a person’s actions when you understand what drives them from within. It also makes it easier for you to choose the correct path for you and your career.
The SDI® is NOT just another "personality test." It's a self-scoring, motivational assessment tool which works on the following principles:
• The SDI® is a non-threatening method for conflict management, a subject that is too often avoided • The SDI® promotes common sense concepts in a highly visual manner • The SDI® honours the value we place on different strengths and our interpretations of the actions of others • The SDI® provides a snapshot of who you are – going beyond behaviour to reveal your driving motivation • The SDI® is intended for application, it promotes interpersonal insights that are crucial to improving any situation where people interact.
The SDI® is widely used in a business and management context. It is equally used to promote individual self-awareness and can reward the individual with career and personal success. As a job seeker, you may complete the SDI® based on information you have about a prospective job - or an ideal job - to see whether your expectations match that of the role itself. You can also see if there is a fit between the role and your individual motivations. Additionally, the awareness you gain from this tool can help you communicate more effectively in interview situations, ultimately making you stand out in the job market.
The SDI® analyses your driving motivations through an online questionnaire of 20 questions, and the completion of a strengths profile. You can read about the history of the SDI® and the theory behind this tool on www.personalstrengths.co.uk, the UK home of SDI®.
